From 1989 the German rockers of Axxis made already 10 albums. Doom of Destiny is their latest cd that sees datlight in the autumn of 2007. The music is best described as melodic power metal with some bombastic influences and sometimes suffused with a little bit progressive metal. Next to singer Weiss (he still got a rather strong German accent) female vocalist Lakonia takes care of the vocals, she’s got a beautiful bright voice. This combination sounds pretty anyway. The new guitarist Marco Wriedt fits very well to the band with heavy and catchy riffs and great solos. An absolutely plus point is the production, a clear production but still heavy.

The album starts with a few epic melodic metal songs (the title song and ‘Better Face’), ‘The Fire That Still Burns’ is the ballad of the album, an unusual slow tempo song with even a sax-solo.

The rebel song ‘Revelations’ has very catchy riffs varied by up tempo parts with double bass drumming. The other songs are more in the way of Helloween, performed well, but songs that you have heard many times before. Special for the German fans Axxis has recorded ‘Engel Aus Hass’, I can’t say anything about this song because it wasn’t recorded on the album I got.

All in one with Doom of Destiny Axxis has delivered a melodic power metal that fits rather well in today’s power metal scene. Because of the production and the performance of the songs Doom of Destiny has become an interesting album for every melodic power metal fan. Have a lot of fun.
